Style tip: Top over maxi dress.

One of my favorite looks is pairing a dress with one of my favorite tops. Today I chose a strapless patterned maxi dress and wore a black top over it. The top ties in the back giving an unexpected surprise in the back. Plus the tie gives the look a more fitted appearance. Pairing a plain tee with a dress can help dress down a fancy dress or help to cover your shoulders for a work environment. Or pair a dressy top with a plain tank or shirt dress to give the look some class. A statement necklace can also do wonders for this type of look.

Slow start.

It has been a slow start to July with the holiday throwing me off a little. I have officially broken out the lace bike shorts and went with a black pair today under my new top. This top reminds me of a pair of silky chiffon pajamas. I love the dusty pink color which gives the sleek top a retro vibe. I threw on the bike shorts for a little edge, and some soft white accessories to make the look more put together.

I am completely obsessed with my lace bike shorts. I purchased them  a few summers ago and have been wearing them nonstop ever since! I have them in black, pink, and white which I wore today. This tunic top was a winter purchase. I love the deep colors in the print and the collar detail. Collars are such a big trend this summer and a sleeveless tunic like this does the trick. The fabric has a slight sheer element to it so the bike shorts and tank underneath are a must.
